Audio introductions are short (usually c.5 minute long) videos that aim to complement the audio description (AD) of a program by providing important visual information that may not have been included in the program’s main audio description due to time constraints.
The information they provide may include detailed descriptions of characters, settings, and other important on-screen information, which an audience member can access before starting the program itself.
Delivered as continuous narration, audio introductions also include brief audio clips of characters or participants, accompanied by images and music from the show, and are intended to enrich and expand the AD user’s experience of the content.
While it will not be possible to provide an audio introduction for every program that’s been audio described on SBS On Demand, we are working to grow the number of audio introductions available to cover as many SBS commissioned programs, and high-profile acquired programs, as possible.
How to find audio introductions.
Where available, audio introductions are selectable from the same page as the program they introduce.
If a program has an audio introduction, an ‘Audio Intro’ label will appear on the program’s landing page.
To access an audio introduction, select the arrow icon on the program’s landing page.
