How does SBS Collect My Information?
SBS collects personal information about you when you provide it to us. This information is collected directly from you in a number of ways, including:
- Registering for an SBS account and using SBS On Demand or our other online services or subscribing to SBS newsletters;
- Contacting us to make an enquiry, provide feedback or comments or generally interacting and engaging with us through our website or social media platforms;
- Entering an SBS competition or giveaway;
- Participating in one of our surveys or voting in one of our polls; and
- Applying to attend and/or attending one of our events or participating as a studio audience member.
SBS may also collect information about you indirectly from reputable third parties, for example, third parties who conduct surveys or run competitions, giveaways or other promotions on our behalf, or provide marketing insights or data analysis services to us or social media platforms and advertising technology partners. If we receive information about you from a third party, we ensure that it has been shared in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Why does SBS collect My information?
SBS collects your personal information for a variety of purposes related to carrying out our functions, including to:
- Provide and administer our services to you;
- Monitor, develop and improve our services and your experience of our services;
- Deliver relevant advertising so that we may continue to provide our services to you at no charge;
- Inform and conduct marketing and advertising activities including to promote our services; and
- Provide customer support to you, including investigating and responding to enquiries and complaints;
- Operate our competitions, giveaways and promotions; and
- Communicate with you about our services and events and distribute our newsletters to subscribers;

Who does SBS share my personal information with?
SBS may share your personal information with third parties in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Such disclosures to third parties may include:
- Sponsors and partners to SBS competitions, giveaways, promotions or events;
- Technology service providers;
- Marketing, digital marketing and advertising service providers;
- Data analysis or data matching service providers; and
- Where required by law or as part of legal obligations as a government agency, such as during parliamentary enquiries or as part of the freedom of information (FOI) process.
Where appropriate, we will only share de-identified, anonymised, or aggregate information (as statistics).

How do I Access, Update or Delete My information?
You have a right to access the personal information that SBS holds about you and you can request that we correct or update that personal information. It is important that the information we hold about you is up-to-date, accurate and complete.
If you subscribe to SBS email newsletters or have created an SBS account, you can access and update your information by logging in to the SBS website.
If you would like to delete your SBS account, you can do this by selecting "Delete Account" in your SBS account settings on the SBS website.
To update your details, you can do this by selecting the 'edit' button in your SBS account settings on the SBS website.
