Why is the SBS On Demand app being removed from my device?
As technology changes, we sometimes have to make difficult decisions about which devices we can continue to support. This allows us to keep improving SBS On Demand and deliver the best possible experience to as many Australians as we can.
Unfortunately, we can’t support every device. In some cases, these decisions are also influenced by device manufacturers ending support for older models and operating systems. Instead, we focus on improving performance as well as trying to introduce better features across our existing platforms.
Older televisions and some app versions can no longer provide a reliable streaming experience. Some rely on outdated technologies or lack the processing power needed for our current video streams, which can lead to frequent playback issues and higher support costs. To maintain the best possible viewing experience for our audiences, we sometimes need to discontinue support for devices and app versions that no longer meet these requirements.
