When Will The Message Appear?
Currently, the "Are You Still Watching" prompt may appear after around 4 hours of no interaction with:
- your remote control
- playback controls
- the SBS On Demand player
How Do I Resume Playback?
To keep watching your stream or program, select:
- Yes
- or the on-screen confirmation prompt using your remote or device controls
Using playback controls during viewing, such as pausing, rewinding or opening the player menu, may also reset the inactivity timer.
For TV series, selecting the Next Episode prompt when credits begin may also help prevent the message from appearing.
Why Does This Message Appear?
We have to display this message to comply with OzTAM, Australia’s official television audience measurement provider.
OzTAM requires streaming services and broadcasters to confirm that a person is still actively watching after long periods without any interaction to ensure viewing figures are measured accurately across live TV and streaming services in Australia.
The same type of viewing confirmation is used by other Australian broadcasters and streaming platforms, although the timing may differ between services.
The Message Will Not Disappear
If selecting the confirmation prompt does not resume playback, try:
- closing and reopening the stream
- restarting the SBS On Demand app
- restarting your device
- checking for app updates
If the issue continues, contact SBS On Demand Support and include:
- your device model
- app version
- the program or match you were watching
- when the issue occurred.
