Poor connection to SBS On Demand despite high internet speeds can generally be alleviated with a few methods:
SBS On Demand Website
Switch Wi-Fi networks if possible, or turn your network connection off and back on.
Ensure no network ad blockers, custom DNS, or VPNs are enabled. SBS On Demand does not support streaming via VPNs, so disable any VPNs.
Clear your browser cache.
Ensure your operating system and web browsers are up to date.
Restart your PC/Mac and power cycle your modem.
Mobile Devices
Close any apps running in the background.
Power cycle your device and modem.
Delete and reinstall the SBS On Demand app to ensure you have the latest version.
Make sure your device is running the latest OS.
Ensure no VPN is enabled — SBS On Demand does not support streaming via VPNs.
Try streaming using mobile data. If performance improves, contact your ISP for further support.
Smart TVs
Perform a soft reset by holding the TV’s power button for 3–5 seconds until it restarts.
Delete and reinstall the SBS On Demand app.
Ensure no VPNs or network ad blockers are enabled on your network. SBS On Demand does not support streaming via VPNs.
Try hot-spotting your TV using mobile data. If performance improves, contact your ISP.
Speed test for Smart TVs:
Open the browser on your TV.
Go to speedtest.net.
Select GO to start the test.
SBS recommends a minimum download speed of 3Mbps. If your result is lower, contact your ISP to ensure optimal service.
