We're continuously evolving the SBS On Demand service to offer a seamless, intuitive user experience across a range of platforms and devices. Part of this means we regularly review the performance of each platform to ensure we're delivering an optimum service to customers, and the availability of apps on specific smart TVs is contingent on ongoing support and updates from the manufacturer. Panasonic exited the Australian television market in 2020, and subsequently, SBS has also made the decision to remove these televisions from our supported devices suite, with the view to phasing them out completely within the next 12 months.
Whilst the app will still be available during this time, it won’t receive any further updates and therefore will not match the premium, curated experience available on supported devices.
Although the app on your Panasonic television service will not receive any further updates, you can continue to access SBS On Demand using your existing TV or device in any of the following ways:
- You can plug your laptop or mobile device into your TV using an HDMI cable.
- You can Chromecast from an iOS or Android device, or from our website to your television;
- Using the HDMI port on your existing television, you can plug in a Google TV
- You can use a set-top box with the SBS On Demand app available across Apple TV, Android TV, Fetch, Hubbl or Foxtel iQ.
- The SBS On Demand app is also available to download on Samsung, LG and Hisense smart televisions from 2017 and later, and televisions with an OS of Android 9 or later.
