We're continuously evolving the SBS On Demand service to offer a seamless, intuitive user experience across a range of platforms and devices. Part of this means we regularly review the performance of each platform to ensure we're delivering an optimum service to customers, and the availability of apps on specific smart TVs is contingent on ongoing support and updates from the manufacturer. Panasonic exited the Australian television market in 2020, and subsequently, SBS has also made the decision to remove support for these televisions on March 1 2025.
While the app is still available on Panasonic televisions, all models of Panasonic televisions have been unsupported since 1 March 2025. 'Unsupported' means there will be no further updates made to the app, including bug fixes or improvements, so over time, the app will degrade and you won't be receiving the optimum, premium experience available on supported devices.
However, please be assured that you don't have to purchase a new television to continue accessing SBS On Demand.
You can continue to access SBS On Demand using your existing TV or device in any of the following ways:
- Using the HDMI port on your existing television, you can plug in a Chromecast with Google TV or an Amazon Fire TV;
- Using the HDMI port on your existing television, you can use a set-top box with the SBS On Demand app available on Google TV Streamer, Apple TV, Android TV, Fetch, Hubbl or Foxtel iQ.;
- You can plug your laptop or mobile device into your TV using an HDMI cable.
- You can Chromecast from an iOS or Android device, or from our website to your television;
