As technology develops, from time to time we need to make tough calls on what services we can maintain, so we can continue to invest in building and updating the SBS On Demand platform to provide as many Australians as possible with the best product we can. Subsequently, the decision has been made to remove ongoing support for the SBS On Demand app on Sony Linux operating system televisions.
Whilst the app will still be available during this time, it won’t receive any further updates or technical support and therefore will not match the premium, curated experience available on supported devices.
Although the app on your Sony television service will not receive any further updates, you can continue to access SBS On Demand using your existing TV or device in any of the following ways:
- You can plug your laptop or mobile device into your TV using an HDMI cable.
- You can Chromecast from an iOS or Android device, or from our website to your television;
- Using the HDMI port on your existing television, you can plug in an Amazon Fire TV Stick or Google TV
- You can use a set-top box with the SBS On Demand app available across Apple TV, Android TV, Fetch, Hubbl or Foxtel iQ.
- The SBS On Demand app is also available to download on Samsung, LG and Hisense smart televisions from 2017 and later, and televisions with an OS of Android 9 or later.
