The SBS On Demand app on devices that utilise an Android or Google TV operating system is changing. The application will be updated and brought in line with the user experience across all other devices such as the SBS On Demand website, Connected TV (Samsung, LG and Hisense) and mobile applications.
A reworked design and interface will be progressively rolled out to the following devices:
- Android & Google televisions from: Sony, Kogan, Toshiba, TCL, Philips ***subject to device capability.
- Chromecast with Google TV
- Google TV Streamer
Here's what to expect:
A simplified sign-in and SBS account creation process with the introduction of QR Codes:
Logging in is now quicker and simpler. Instead of entering your email address and password on the TV, you'll now use your mobile device. You can also still continue to sign in manually using your remote.

A revamped interface:
A new look to simplify navigation. The previous "Featured tab" has now been renamed as "Home". In addition, new sections for News, Sport & Collection pages have been added.
A dedicated live-channel destination
A central hub which includes details on all live and upcoming programs across the main SBS channels.
Search
An updated search function allowing you to search by title, cast, language and collection titles.
Rebuilt player
New audio and simplified subtitle selection controls: navigate to the "Audio and Subtitles" icon to bring up closed captions and enable audio description (when available).
New ways to fast-forward and rewind our content.
To rewind or fast forward a video, press on the forward and back arrows on your remote. The video will then scrub forward by 15 second increments.
You can also restart the episode or skip to the next episode by selecting the arrows under the program bar
