If you are using the SBS On Demand app on the devices listed below, then you've probably noticed our app has had a refresh! We’ve made a few updates to make your navigation experience smoother, but don’t worry, all the shows you love, our curated collections and Live-TV destinations are exactly where you left them.
This change affects those who are using the SBS On Demand app on:
- Samsung televisions manufactured after 2017
- Hisense televisions manufactured after 2021
- LG televisions manufactured after 2017
- Foxtel set top boxes including iQ3, iQ4 and iQ5
- Hubbl set top boxes
- HbbTV enabled televisions
Easier login with QR Code
Logging in is now quicker and simpler. Instead of entering your email and password on the TV, you’ll now use your mobile device. If you don't want to use another device, no problem! You can still log in manually using your remote. Click here for login instructions using the QR code.
New Navigation Menu, Same Easy Browsing
We’ve moved the main menu from the top of the screen to the left-hand side.
This new layout gives you a cleaner look and makes it even easier to find what you’re after.
Enabling Closed Captions
Turning on closed captions is still done within the video player. Just navigate to the audio and subtitles button, and select it to bring up the menu
New Video Player
The new video player now gives viewers the option to "Restart" the episode or to "Play the next episode" in a series, when available.
Fast-Forward and Rewind
All fast-forwarding and rewinding is now done directly from your tv's remote controller. Instructions on how to fast-forward and rewind our programs can be found here.
Favourites
You can find all your favourites via the main menu on the left-hand side under the heart icon 🖤 for favourites.
To add more programs to your favourites, just select the heart option within the program page. The heart icon will change from grey to white to indicate that the program has been successfully added.
Remove program from Continue Watching
Your "Continue Watching" row will now appear on the Home page of the SBS On Demand app, roughly 3 to 4 rows down.
To remove a program from your Continue Watching List, all you have to do is:
- Navigate to your Continue Watching List on the Home page of the SBS On Demand app.
- Select the program you want to remove by pressing and holding the OK or Centre button on your TV's remote. A new sub menu will appear asking if you want to "Remove - program name?"
- Select "Remove" and the program will disappear from your Continue Watching List.
Are you using the SBS On Demand application on a LG television that was manufactured after 2020? If so, you will most likely have access to LG Magic Remote controller.
We recommend implementing these steps to ensure your magic remote controller functions correctly with the SBS On Demand app.
After bringing up your app's menu by pressing on the Home or Apps button on your LG TV remote, we suggest:
- Pressing on the LEFT and Right arrows on your LG magic remote controller to navigate through your app's menu to open the SBS On Demand app.
- Once you open the application, the "focus" will be visible (this is the current item that is highlighted in yellow).
- You will then be able to use the standard left, right, up and down arrows on your LG remote to browse and navigate within the application.
- Press on the "centre" button on your remote to select a menu or program to begin watching.
We do not recommend navigating or moving within our application by using the scroll-wheel or the on-screen cursor. Our teams are aware of an issue which causes our app to freeze if a viewer uses these functions and are investigating accordingly.
